Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS) is a nonprofit organization that provides settlement and integration services to all immigrants and refugees in Calgary and Southern Alberta. With over 35 years of solid community experience, 70 active programs, and comprehensive wraparound support, CCIS ensures that our services respond to the needs of ethnically diverse communities within Calgary and area.
CCIS, in partnership with Calgary and Area Children’s Services (CS), established a Cultural Brokerage Program (CCBP) in 2015 with the overall objective to increase collaboration, engagement, and partnership with culturally diverse communities in Calgary, and to strengthen community capacity within Calgary’s multicultural communities.
Our Cultural Brokerage Program is composed of a team of diverse individuals in the roles of Cultural Broker as well as the Community Broker. The Cultural Brokerage team operates in Connect Children’s Services (CS) multi-service team locations across the City that have been identified as serving specific ethno-cultural populations.
Reporting to the Coordinator of Cultural Brokerage Program, our Community Broker provides training, education and advice to promote and enhance cultural competency within Children’s Services (CS) and community partners, and to assist our program staff in becoming more familiar with matters of diversity. The Community Broker is also responsible for supporting service design and delivery that are based on the shared values and desired experiences of the clients that we serve.
